Immigration
Should the United States Drastically Reduce Immigration Levels?
Should the United States Drastically Reduce Immigration Levels?
Here’s The Scoop
A recent Gallup poll indicates that a growing majority of Americans want to see a significant reduction in immigration into the United States, reflecting a drastic shift in public sentiment. For the first time since 2005, it’s clear that Americans are fed up with the current policies and want tighter controls on who enters our country.
According to Gallup, 55% of American adults are in favor of fewer immigrants coming to the United States. This is the highest percentage wanting immigration cuts since 2001, when 58% voiced similar concerns. What’s particularly alarming is that this sizeable majority contrasts sharply with the mere 41% who are content with current immigration levels or desire even more immigrants.
Breaking down the numbers, 25% are happy maintaining current levels, while only 16% support increasing immigration. This marks a significant drop from May 2020, when 34% wanted more immigrants—a clear sign that people are waking up to the consequences of unchecked immigration.
What’s even more revealing is that all political affiliations—Republicans, Democrats, and independents—have shown a marked increase in support for reduced immigration. Republican support for decreased immigration skyrocketed from 73% in 2023 to a staggering 88% now. Independents also made a notable jump from 39% to 50% within a year, and even Democrats, usually more lenient on immigration issues, saw an increase from 18% to 28%.
This shift isn’t just about numbers. Americans are increasingly backing solid border security measures. The percentage favoring the expansion of the border wall along the U.S.-Mexico border rose from 40% in 2019 to 53% in 2023. Additionally, support for deporting all illegal immigrants surged from 37% in 2019 to 47% in 2023.
These changing views come against the backdrop of an unprecedented surge in illegal crossings during the Biden administration. Over 10 million people have unlawfully crossed the border since Biden took office, with an estimated 1.7 million illegal immigrant gotaways. Contrast this with significantly lower figures under the Trump administration, which reported just 415,000 gotaways from 2018 to 2020.
As we head into the 2024 presidential race, immigration is emerging as a key issue. Only 36% of voters approve of President Biden’s handling of immigration, and there is broad support for increasing deportations, building the southern border wall, and penalizing businesses that hire illegal immigrants.
It’s clear that Americans are demanding change and accountability. The question now is: will our leaders listen?

Were against ILLEGAL immigration, come here legally, contribute to society instead of subtracting, follow the laws you’re good to come here. Sneak across the border, steal identities, get on welfare while getting paid cash from jobs and the government, you should be shot and left at the border for the vultures and witms

100% in agreement. Come here legally and you are welcome, only people with problems, that are criminals, or are sick come to the USA illegally. The only other ones are paid to come here and get on welfare or are mules for drug cartels.

I feel that there are too many immigrants in this country and do not do anything for this country. I was born in New Jersey and thhere is at least twenty times more immegrants thathave moved from all other countries and
have commited havic in the United States.
I feel we should send all of these people back to their own countries and try to live civil lifes like we do.
Since all of the prople that come here are always killing the Americans who were born in the United States should have stayed in their countries.
My family had to leave Germany because there was always a war between Germany and and other countries.
but my family survived living in the United States but my brothers and brothers-in-law had to go into the Navy and Army during the wars that happened in other countries.
Thank you for listening to me.

When the government steals from the citizens to give the money to the illegal invaders, they have gone way too damn far, stop it all and evict the criminals!

There should be a moratorium on all immigration until the criminal illegals have all been deported. There needs to be some incentive for the rapid removal, otherwise the Left will stand in the way of the program.
Then and only then does the legal immigration program get re-instated.
