Should Nashville Be Renamed Trump International Airport?

Should Nashville Be Renamed Trump International Airport?

Here’s The Scoop

Travelers touching down in the heart of Tennessee might soon find themselves arriving at the newly christened Trump International Airport. In a bold move, Tennessee Republican State Rep. Todd Warner has introduced House Bill 217, aiming to rename Nashville International Airport in honor of former President Donald Trump.

This legislation, if passed, mandates the metropolitan airport authority to undertake a series of actions to implement the name change. This includes installing new signage, updating trademarks with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, revising contracts and legal documents, and ensuring all references are updated with local, state, and federal agencies. During the transition, the airport would continue operations as “Trump International Airport” or “d/b/a Trump International Airport.”

Set to take effect on January 1, 2026, this initiative is not the first of its kind. Back in April 2024, a group of House Republicans made a similar push to rename Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia after Trump. Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, R-Pa., along with six cosponsors, spearheaded this effort, emphasizing Trump’s transformative impact on the nation.

“In my lifetime, our nation has never been greater than under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump,” Reschenthaler stated, highlighting the symbolic power of welcoming travelers to Trump International Airport as a testament to American freedom, prosperity, and strength.

If successful, this would mark the second D.C.-area airport named after a Republican president, joining Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, Virginia. Rep. Barry Moore, R-Ala., expressed his support, noting the appropriateness of honoring one of America’s greatest presidents in this way.

Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., echoed these sentiments, advocating for both airports in the nation’s capital to bear the names of America’s two best presidents: Reagan and Trump.

As the proposal gains traction, it underscores the enduring legacy of President Trump and the admiration he continues to receive from many Americans.

I was going to say No because – why? President Trump is probably the best President that we’ve ever had next to Reagan, however, you don’t need to rename an airport to include his name on a whim. But reading the comments below about this poll question, it sounds like Tennessee has definitely benefited greatly from Pres Trump positive policies. Perhaps that is very fitting to change the name? I have to say, it is so nice to have a President who actually loves the American people and our country. He isn’t controlled by the deep state/illuminati and makes decisions that will ultimately help us and our country! Wow! What a concept!

I don’t think it should be renamed until after his 4 years are completed. Something may happen to change our opinion of him

He’s got more than enough crap named after him, already – all stuff he paid for, nothing in recognition of merit. Until/unless he does something actually great naming something for him would just be pandering.
