CNN commentator S. E. Cupp hasn’t held back in her critique of the Democratic Party’s perplexing decision to invite former President Bill Clinton to speak at the upcoming Democratic National Convention, slamming the move as a “bad look” for a party that claims to stand for “decency.”

Appearing on CNN, Cupp supported Kate Bedingfield’s comments about President Joe Biden’s expected emphasis on decency in his speech.

“However, this is just an aside. You can take it as you will. But I don’t know why Bill Clinton is still at these DNCs. He is a problem. He is a bad look for Democrats. He has been at every DNC since he was elected, and there’s no good reason for it,” she said.

This stark warning from Cupp came on the heels of Bedingfield’s prediction that Biden would contrast Vice President Kamala Harris’ supposed “core sense of decency” with former President Trump’s record. Ironically, inviting Clinton, a figure whose past scandals have marred his legacy, only undermines this message.

Cupp, noted for her criticism of Trump and a regular anti-Trump voice on CNN, also called out Kamala Harris for avoiding the media. Harris has dodged formal press conferences and sit-down interviews since Biden threw his support behind her presidential campaign in late July. She claims she will engage more with the press by the end of the month, but voters are left skeptical.

Especially in critical swing states, voters demand transparency and clear policies. “People especially in the all-important swing states — I talk to them all the time — they want to know how well this government, a Harris-Walz administration, will solve their problems. And they want specifics, not just on inflation and on the border, but on housing prices and mortgage rates,” Cupp emphasized.

Cupp’s critique hit a broader issue with Democrats like Harris, who offer slogans rather than substance. “’I’m a prosecutor. He’s a criminal,’ that’s not a policy. That’s a bumper sticker,” Cupp added, pointing out the need for Harris to provide real answers.

As the DNC kicks off in Chicago, featuring appearances from other notable Democrats such as former President Obama and Hillary Clinton, the choice to spotlight Bill Clinton seems like a glaring contradiction to their proclaimed values.
