Do You Stand With Israel?
Here’s The Scoop
In a decisive move against terrorism, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) eliminated Hezbollah’s top military commander in a targeted strike in Lebanon. This operation marks a significant counter-terrorism effort by Israeli Air Force fighter jets, who struck Fuad Shukr in Beirut.
Shukr’s death comes after the Iranian-backed terrorist group Hezbollah committed a horrific rocket attack over the weekend, murdering 12 innocent children in northern Israel.
Shukr was no ordinary figure; he was Hezbollah’s most senior military commander and the head of its Strategic Unit, acting as the right-hand man to Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.
The IDF confirmed that Shukr orchestrated and directed all of Hezbollah’s attacks on Israel following the unprecedented and barbaric October 7 terrorist attack by Hamas, where thousands of terrorists invaded Israel from Gaza, resulting in the deaths of 1,200 Israelis, injuries to more than 5,000, and hundreds of hostages taken.
The IDF’s statement highlighted Shukr’s role in deploying Hezbollah’s advanced weaponry, which includes precise-guided missiles, cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles, long-range rockets, and UAVs. He was not only responsible for the planning and execution of these attacks but also for the overall force build-up aimed at terrorizing the State of Israel.
Shukr’s terror activities spanned nearly four decades, with a series of major attacks since the early 1990s. Notably, in the 1990s, he orchestrated multiple attacks against the IDF and the South Lebanon Army. In 2000, he played a direct role in the abduction and subsequent deaths of three IDF soldiers – SSGT Benyamin Avraham, SSGT Adi Avitan, and SSGT Omar Sawaid – who were killed by Hezbollah terrorists.
The nefarious history of Fuad Shukr extends far beyond the conflict with Israel. The U.S. government had previously placed a $5 million bounty on Shukr for his central role in the October 23, 1983 bombing of the U.S. Marine Corps Barracks in Beirut. This heinous attack resulted in the loss of 241 American military personnel and injuries to 128 others, cementing Shukr’s legacy as a ruthless terrorist.
With the elimination of Shukr, the IDF has delivered a powerful message to Hezbollah and all terrorist groups that Israel will relentlessly pursue justice for its citizens and defend its sovereignty.
