Should You Have To Show ID To View Adult Websites?
Here’s the Scoop
In a significant move to shield minors from online adult content, several U.S. states are rapidly advancing laws requiring age verification to access pornography sites.
Louisiana has led the charge, becoming the first state to mandate ID for residents seeking access to such content. Following suit, states like Florida, Kansas, South Dakota, and West Virginia have introduced similar legislation, with Arkansas, Mississippi, and Virginia close to passing their own versions.
This surge in legislative action comes amidst longstanding concerns about the ease with which minors can encounter explicit material online. The proposed laws aim to implement robust age verification systems on websites where a substantial portion of the content is deemed harmful to minors.
The measures are seen as a response to what some state lawmakers describe as a “public health crisis” due to the pervasive availability and potential impact of pornography on young minds.
However, the push for age verification is not without controversy. Critics argue that these laws could pose significant privacy risks, especially for users on smaller websites that may not have the resources to securely handle sensitive data.
There are also questions about the effectiveness of such laws, given the vastness of the internet and the availability of adult content on platforms beyond traditional pornography sites, such as social media.
The debate touches on several critical issues, including the protection of minors, freedom of speech, online privacy, and the role of government in regulating the internet.
With this in mind, we ask you, our readers: Should you have to show ID to view adult websites? Is this a necessary step to protect minors, or does it represent an overreach that threatens privacy and freedom on the internet?
Your opinion is crucial in navigating these complex and evolving challenges of the digital age. Vote now and let your voice be heard in this important debate.

WE definitely need to REQUIRE by law that EVERYONE have a valid Voter Id Card or License to vote in ANY election; local, state or federal elections of any kind. If you can go get a drivers license, hair cut, permnet, nails done, etc. then there is no reason you can’t manage to go get an Voter ID. I’m sure any party can arrange to give a ride to anyone who want to get a Voter ID.
I believe ANYONE who wants to run for ANY elected office, on ANY level should have to register and make public, in/on ALL ads of ANY kind their POLITICAL AFFILIATION. By not doing so they are hiding their true political persuasion from the public. The majority of political asperations start with the first introduction into politics. They should be open and honest from day one.

I agree with you for what you stated, but your comment has nothing to do with whether or not you should verify your age to view adult-specific content on the web.The article was concerning should we have to show proof of age to see age-related adult content. To that, the answer is YES>

Yes, I believe that to protect our minor children we should verify the age of ANYONE wanting to access Adult Content on any site. Be it Social Media or Porn sites or any other where that content can be viewed.

Absolutely their age should be verified as being appropriate to view adult material. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to come to that conclusion, but I guess in this day and age, there are still some people that are living in the dark ages!!! Thank goodness you are not one of those people!!

Yes, requiring minors to show proper identification is common sense and necessary to protect them from becoming addicted.

Yes, there needs to be laws protecting our youth from adult explicit material, and the use of an ID is a good start.
