Do You Think The Gag Order Against Trump Is Unconstitutional?

Former President Donald Trump, always one to challenge perceived injustices, has taken aim at a federal judge’s decision.

The judge slapped a limited gag order on Trump in connection with the Washington, D.C., criminal election interference case.

An undeterred Trump was quick to dub the decision as “so unconstitutional” at a campaign event in Adel, Iowa.

In fact, mere hours before, his campaign spokesperson had gone on record calling the order “an absolute abomination.”

During the event, Trump voiced his incredulity, saying, “Today a judge put on a gag order. I’ll be the only politician in history that runs with a gag order where I’m not allowed to criticize people. Can you imagine this?”

He confirmed his intention to appeal, reiterating his viewpoint, “it’s so unconstitutional.”

In what might be seen by some as a classic Trump move, he juxtaposed his legal predicaments with that of notorious American gangster Al Capone.

“He was only indicted one time. I’ve been indicted four times,” Trump pointed out.

But far from being deterred by the legal battles, Trump boasted of his soaring popularity, remarking, “I’m the only one that’s ever been indicted with the numbers went through the roof.”

Trump’s self-confidence isn’t unfounded. He holds a dominant lead in most polls, far outpacing potential rivals. A RealClearPolitics poll illustrates this dominance with Trump boasting 58.3%, dwarfing Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) who stands at 12.9%.

In his signature style, Trump took the opportunity to dub DeSantis as “DeSanctimonious” and didn’t spare former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, nicknaming her “birdbrain.”

As per Judge Tanya Chutkan’s gag order, Trump is prohibited from publicly targeting prosecutors, including special counsel Jack Smith, court staff, their families, or commenting on witnesses and their testimonies.

However, Trump, in true form, did not hold back from accusing the Department of Justice of having a “weaponized” criminal justice system.

He also unleashed a volley of criticisms against President Joe Biden, particularly focusing on Biden’s approach to the Israel-Hamas conflict and the Iranian prisoner exchange deal.

Regarding the latter, Trump raised concerns over the release of $6 billion to Iran, a move later halted in light of Hamas terrorist attacks and Israel’s retaliatory actions.

Expressing his skepticism about the sanctions, Trump stated, “They still have the sanctions on but they don’t enforce them … sanctions are worthless if you don’t have a leader that’s going to enforce it.”

Responding to Trump’s sanctions claims, Treasure Secretary Janet Yellen clarified last week, “We have not in any way relaxed our sanctions on Iranian oil.”

But it’s Trump’s concerns about global stability that might capture the most attention.

Drawing a connection between the attacks on Israel and the potential for conflict involving the U.S., especially given the influx of young men through the southern border, Trump issued a stark warning:

“The one thing that we really have to be careful of is World War Three because we’re right on the cusp of World War Three,” emphasizing how close he believes we are to such a catastrophic event.
