Should Hunter Biden Face Trial for His Tax Evasion Charges?
Should Hunter Biden Face Trial for His Tax Evasion Charges?
Here’s The Scoop
Hunter Biden’s legal team is scrambling to avoid a public trial in his federal tax case in California, opting instead to change his plea at the last minute. This move came just as jury selection was about to begin, according to NBC News.
Despite this sudden shift, Hunter Biden still claims he is innocent, though the exact terms of his new plea remain a mystery. It’s also uncertain whether the presiding judge will accept this proposal.
Hunter Biden, the president’s son, faces a slew of charges: three felonies and six misdemeanors for allegedly failing to pay at least $1.4 million in taxes from 2016 to 2020. This period coincides with his well-documented struggles with drug addiction. This tax case marks his second trial this year; he was already convicted in June for illegally purchasing a firearm in Delaware.
The plea Hunter Biden is seeking is known as an “Alford plea,” which means he acknowledges that the government has enough evidence to convict him but does not admit guilt. This plea must be approved by Trump-appointed District Judge Mark Scarsi to take effect. Hunter’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, expressed optimism, stating, “I think this can be resolved today,” according to CNN.
However, the prosecution is not on board and plans to object to the Alford plea. President Joe Biden has previously stated he will not pardon his son, although his stance could be in flux, especially after his recent decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race.
This isn’t the first time Hunter’s legal team has tried to strike a deal. Earlier this year, they attempted a plea agreement in the Delaware firearms case that would have shielded him from future prosecutions. That deal fell apart in July when the judge overseeing the case rejected it.
As this legal drama unfolds, it raises serious questions about accountability and justice, especially when it involves the president’s son. The American people deserve transparency and fairness, and this case will be a significant test of both.

Hunter should be treated like the average citizen who doesn’t pay required taxes, no more, no less. I know hundreds of individuals who haven’t paid taxes, I don’t know one who is jailed because of it. If Hunter Biden eventually paid both the overdue tax amount and fines He gets a get-out-of-jail free card just like anyone else. The very concept of spending tax resources to jail a white collar criminal for a crime that been resolved when that money would be much better spent jailing murderers and bankers who steal retirement accounts from elders is insulting.

His jail sentence should be for a combination of his drug related actions, hoaring, and acting as an unregistered agent for a foreign government (China and Ukraine at minimum) for favor’s and access to his father, the10% for the big guy”.

Since he willfully plead GUILTY to many Felonies, when does he loose his Law license and right to vote?
Will the Court require he tell-all (come clean and disclose name(s) of any co-conspirators) to each felony?

If a Tax Evasion trial was good enough for Al Capone it’s good enough for Hunter Biden…

When the Presecutor rejected the Alford Plea Hunter pleaded guilty outright. There is no necessity for a trial anymore.

Mickey Mastriano, Hunter Biden should not be allowed to get away with not paying his $1.4 million dollars, plus interest for unpaid taxes for all these years, just because he’s the son of Joe Biden!!! Wrong is wrong, anyway you slice it!

If his name wasn’t Biden he never would have even been bothered, like billionaires who constantly lie and cheat to avoid paying their share, like it would make a big dent in their $$$$.
