Should Daylight Saving Time Be Made Permanent?

Here’s the Scoop

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) once again proposed a bill to make daylight saving time permanent in the U.S.

So far, the Sunshine Protection Act of 2023 has garnered bipartisan support in the Senate.

“This ritual of changing time twice a year is stupid,” Rubio said in a statement. “Locking the clock has overwhelming bipartisan and popular support. This Congress, I hope that we can finally get this done.”

The bill currently has 14 co-sponsors in the Senate — seven Republicans and seven Democrats.

Standard time should be made permanent. There is the exact same amount of daylight per day no matter how much you manipulate the time. It is completely irrational, like all the other ‘innovations’ around the time of WWI, the income tax, direct election of Senators, etc.

I agree with you 💯.The whole idea has been stupid from the very beginning. I voted yes because I think one or the other should be made permanent, preferably standard time, and stop this crap of changing every few months.

I think that “Eastern Standard Time” should go back to its norm! Do the “fall back” thus last time and leave it there! DST is so out dated and useless!

I thought that the Senate voted last year to leave the time as is day light saving and the the lower Congress was supposed to vote on that tis year but they didn’t .anyway I never change my clocks I leave the on day light savings time and it works for me ,now I hope they leave it for next year !!

I prefer DST but worry about the children having to stand at the bus stop in the dark waiting for their bus. Tired of the time changes!
